Harris Ferry Chapter was invited to attend Washingtonburg Chapter’s celebrations on Perry County this weekend.  President Lemon was able to attend the events and participate in the Color Guard.

The first event included a Liberty Tree dedication, as well as various plaques on large stones, and a new flagpole at the Millerstown Area Community Park that flew the Liberty Flag.

Following this was a Patriot Grave Marking Ceremony for Benjamin Bonsall and Ephraim Williams.  The actual burial locations were a somewhat difficult location in the cemetery, so the ceremony was held at the neighboring Millerstown Riverview Cemetery.  SAR Markers and wreaths were in fact taken to the actual graves.

The final event included another Liberty Tree dedication at the Greenwood Elementary School.

These events were a great representation of the SAR’s commitment to historical preservation and the importance of the 250th Anniversary of the United States.  Markings and ceremonies such as these are only a few examples of how Americans can come together and celebrate this major achievement for our nation.
