Harris Ferry Secretary Gary L. Coburn was accepted into the Society of the Cincinnati, a prestigious lineage society that has a single representative for officers of the Continental Army during the time of the Revolution. George Washington was the first President General of the Society.
Gary’s ancestor, Asa Coburn, enlisted in 1775 in Massachusetts, rose through ranks of Lieutenant and Captain, and earned the rank of Brevet Major in 1783. His service includes action in Lexington as well as conflict with Native Americans.
