Event Information

The Harrisburg Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution is holding a cemetery cleanup at Stroh’s Cemetery in Lower Paxton on March 28th, with the intention of a marker dedication ceremony for two Patriots at later date (April 12th).  The Chapter has graciously invited the Harris Ferry Chapter SAR to attend. Start time is TBD, please arrive at least 15 minutes early.

Please bring yard tools like rakes, weed eaters, containers of gasoline, gloves, eye and ear protection, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you wish to attend the cleanup, you MUST contact President Lemon.  The cemetery is on property that requires authorization for legal and safety reasons (ie. in the event you’re injured).  Your name and phone number will be given to the DAR to communicate with the appropriate parties.

The Harris Ferry Chapter SAR has a significant link to this cemetery, as Past President and Compatriot Oscar H. Stroh is buried here.  Mr. Stroh was instrumental in compiling, detailing, and publishing countless records on Dauphin Country Revolutionary War Patriots.  It will be suggested at an upcoming BOM meeting that we raise funds for a Compatriot Grave Marker to be purchased and installed; more details to follow.  If the BOM approves this idea, we will conduct our own Compatriot Grave Marking Ceremony for Oscar H. Stroh alongside the DAR’s Patriot Grave Marking Ceremony.  Again, more details to follow.

Stroh’s Cemetery is located on the Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area, 401 Fishing Creek Valley Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112
