On January 30th, Harris Ferry Chapter President Forrest Myers officated the 2021 Bronze Good Citizenship Awards at the Captain Leon Lock Hampden Township Veterans Park. VFW Commander Jeffrey Puckett and Hampden Township Commissioner Nathan Silcox were honored for their ongoing support of veterans and their families.

Harris Ferry Chapter SAR and Harrisburg DAR celebrated the Annual George Washington Luncheon on February 16th at Colonial Golf Club in Harrisburg.  President Forrest Myers presided and handed off the ceremonial fork to DAR Regent Johnye Klossner.  Vice President Gary Coburn was awarded a military service commendation and speaker Curtis Vreeland presented on "Chocolate in the American Colonies".

Constitution Day Luncheon

Harris Ferry Chapter celebrated its Annual Constitution Day Luncheon on September 22nd, 2019 at Colonial Golf Club with special guest and speaker Representative Scott Perry. Harrisburg DAR Regent Johnye Kitzman was also in attendance representing the Daughters of the American Revolution. Harris Ferry Chapter was proud to present Past President Bob Bakelaar with the Bronze Roger Sherman Medal & Certificate for outstanding service to the Sons of the American Revolution.

The Harris Ferry Chapter's 78th Annual Meeting On December 2nd, 2018 at the Harrisburg Country Club.  The Officers for the 2019 year were sworn in and Thad Weaver spoke on the German Regiment of the Continental Army.



May 30, 2017

Harris Ferry Chapter President Dick Wenner and PASSAR 2nd Vice President Clay Dawson visited the 5th Grade classes at South Hanover Elementary School in Hershey, PA.   

President Wenner gave a talk about life in Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-78.  President Wenner and Vice President Clay Dawson also asked questions of the audience as well as answered a few. The children were most attentive and demonstrated a good knowledge of the Revolution and Colonial history. A special thanks to 5th Grade teacher Mrs. Jane Lightner and Principal Steve Schoessler for giving Harris Ferry this wonderful opportunity.

Constitution Day Luncheon September 18, 2016

President Dennis Bobb called the meeting to order and led the pledge to the Flag and the SAR Pledge.

Andrew Outten the Director of Education of the Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates, gave a talk on some of the behind the scenes actions of the British officers during the Revolutionary war. Hisexcellent talk centered on what was called the Year of the Hangman, 1777 and the subsequent fallout and how the actions during that year started the beginning of the end for the British.

Harris Ferry Chapter members Matt Bobb (with Mrs. Bobb), Clay Dawson, and Dennis Bobb at the 7th Annual Brandon's Ride Car Show August 20. PFC Brandon M. Styer was KIA October 15, 2009. He proudly served our country as a Combat Engineer. Brandon was a true car enthusiast, and while serving overseas, he was building his Mazda RX-8. All proceeds benefit the Brandon Styer Scholarship Fund at Conestoga Valley High School, Lancaster County, PA

11th Awards Luncheon----May 22,2011

Wreaths Across America December 11, 2010


Participants in the ceremony march into the PA Vetern's Memorial on the Grounds of the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Representatives from all the service branches were in attendance as well as a large number of civilian attendees.

Floyd N.Turner II, Secretary of PASSAR served as Emcee.

The Presentation of the Colors.


Symbolic Wreaths were carried in and placed by representatives from of each branch of the Services.

Wreaths were placed for the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Merchant Marines and the seventh for the POW / MIA.

At the conclusion of the symbolic wreath laying the audience moved to the grave areas.Vonunteers distributed wreaths to all present to place on each grave in section 12 B and 13.

There were volunteers of all ages.

At the conclusion, 1900 wreaths had been placed.
